If you’re like 98% of the population, you fall into 1 of 3 categories with exercise.
You hate it; therefore, you don’t do it. Or maybe you get started, grumble your way through for a little while then stop.
You do it because you have to, not necessarily because you want to. Because you don’t enjoy it, you’re likely bored or inconsistent with it.
You love it, and because of your love for exercise, you’re all in! It’s where your people are! Where you’ve met some of your favourite friends. You’d rather be in the gym than sleep in.
Moving your body has immeasurable health benefits for your body, mind and soul. Movement is one of themost effective ways to improve your mental health. It has a profoundly positive impact on depression, anxiety, ADHD, and more. Movement helps to relieve stress, improves memory, self-esteem, helpsyou sleep better, and boosts your overall mood.
Listen to what Psychology Today shares: “Put simply: Exercise directly affects the brain. Regular exercise increases the volume of certain brain regions— in part through better blood supply that improves neuronal health by improving the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the brain.
Of critical importance for mental health is the hippocampus — an area of the brain involved in memory, emotion regulation, and learning. Studies in other animals show convincingly that exercise leads to the creation of new hippocampal neurons (neurogenesis), with preliminary evidence suggesting this is also true in humans.
Movement also releases endorphins and serotonin, our body’s natural feel good hormones! When we feel good we handle everything around us with more patience, grace, confidence and ease.
Interestingly MOVEMENT increases sex drive and helps you to feel better about yourself. If you’re married, this is a major component to the overall health of your marriage. If you feel yourself shying away from your spouse exercise will help you feel more sexy, confident and attractive and draw closer again.
MOVEMENT has a similar addictive property like morphine, heroine and nicotine do. If we’re going to be addicted to something, let’s get addicted to the right things; Movement! Nutrition! Relationships! Faith!
